About this condition

Rosacea is an often misdiagnosed condition that mainly affects the face and can present itself in many different ways. It can affect anyone at any stage in life and its exact cause is unknown.

More women than men have rosacea, but it tends to be more severe in the latter. In very advanced cases it can result in rhinophyma (or swelling of the nose) due to cells there becoming enlarged. The redness and rashes of rosacea are the result of broken or dilated capillaries under the skin.

There may be a small hereditary factor and there are a number of triggers for its appearance, including exposure to sunlight, severe cold, caffeine and alcohol consumption.

Rosacea can usually show as redness and/or flushing to the forehead, cheeks, nose, or chin and can be accompanied by a burning or stinging sensation on the skin.

This condition can lay dormant and then flare up suddenly. It may also present itself as small outbreaks of white spots, usually also showing on the forehead, cheeks, nose or chin.

Rosacea is manageable. In some cases results can be seen quickly but often a course of treatment and on-going management may be required for this condition, with treatment recommendations based on your specific condition. More guidance can be found on the from NHS Rosacea and the British Skin Foundation too.

Treatments We Offer

There are a variety of treatments to help with Rosacea, including antibiotics (following a consultation with a dermatologist), topical creams, facials and chemical peels. LED and Laser treatments can also be used in some cases.

LED red light treatment destroys the offending bacteria in the skin's sub-dermal layer and stimulates collagen.

Laser treatments shrinks or closes off blood vessels, allowing new skin to flourish.

At Debora's Beauty Studio, we also offer specialised facials such as our Environ Problem Skin Facial which can also be used to treat problems such as acne too.
